Arriving in San Quirico d’Orcia, the pretty medieval town built on the Francigena Road and surrounded by beautiful monuments overlooking the main street of the village, the tour includes a stop at a wine cellar in the historical center to learn about the excellent products of the area.
Guided by expert local farmers, visitors can learn the production process of Orcia DOC wine, extra virgin olive oil DOP, which is annually celebrated in San Quirico with a country festival; and Vin Santo a delicious sweet Tuscan dessert wine.
The exploration of the evocative places of cellar, olive oil mill, and vinsantaia will be accompanied by a free tasting of the products that are made there.
The tour will continue a few kilometers away from San Quirico d’Orcia with a visit to the ancient spa of Bagno Vignoni, a scenic, lovely village characterized by tiny medieval buildings whose central square is made up of an ancient thermal pool filled with hot water which, thanks to a natural spring of volcanic origin, still flows in the heart of the town.
